Keyword selection is one of the first steps in implementing a search engine optimization strategy. It goes without saying that if you select and optimize for the wrong keywords, your overall optimization campaign is worthless. In this article we will cover the keyword selection process, tools available to assist you in selecting the right keywords, and how best to place keywords throughout your site.

Keyword selection can vary greatly based on the type of Web site the client requires. Static sites (sites that are simple HTML pages and are not database driven) by definition are limited to a defined number of keywords. If you are creating a new site from ground up, it is wise to select the number of possible keywords you want up front. Then you can plan the architecture of the site based on your keyword selection criteria. If your client sells 10 different products, create a 10-page site, plus pages for contact information and other boilerplate content.

The performance of Search Engines are steadily improving and the problem areas are indeed getting narrower. Today, search engines have attained levels of excellence to serve up fast and relevant information whenever the browser wants it. But problems do arise when you type in a wrong Web address that leads you to a wrong site or receive a number of confusing error messages. You must learn the art of reaching the right website.

We must recognize that spelling errors commonly occur when typing the web addresses. Web addresses must be typed totally free from all errors as each slash, dash, and dot can sabotage your attempts in accessing the required web site.

When you type a Web address into the Address box of your Web browser, if the message you get states the page cannot be found, you have obviously made some mistakes in typing the web address. Check once again the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of the Web address.

There are two types of social sites. One is social networking and the other type is social bookmarking. Social networking sites provide you an easy way to connect with people who share similar interests like you. Sites like MySpace, Orkut, Bebo, Facebook, Hi5, Friendster are popular among users. These sites have a huge user base and provide an excellent opportunity for advertising your site. There are also specialized social networking sites like 43Things, MomJunction, Mothersclick which cater to specific interests.

Some social networking sites group people with common interests, but some sites are “traditional networking sites” and allow you to search for friends based on your interests. In any case you will always have a larger audience for showcasing your site. Sites like Facebook and MySpace allow you to post your advertisements and promote your products, provided you are not spamming. If you have a really good site, you will surely find a large visitor base just by showcasing your site on your profile.

Social bookmarking sites provide you easy way to store, organize, manage your bookmarks as well as share them with your friends. You can bookmark any URL or page you liked and even mark them for public or private viewing. Social bookmarking sites also provide you with the option of tagging your bookmarks. Some of the bookmarking sites link directly to your URL’s thus helping your site in getting valuable back links and quick indexing. Sites like Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious are known to send huge traffic to your site. If you manage to get on the front page of these sites, you should be prepared to handle a huge number of visitors to your site.

Search engines spiders love social sites and usually follow links on these sites. This means if you have your site link on social networking and bookmarking sites, your site will be indexed quickly.

Running Multiple Blogs !!!

Most of the blogger are generally confused about the creation of multiple blogs at a time , of course this is a decision may affect the level of quality of your  blog/blogs and how much time you have to write, maintain, and promote. you can easily get rid of this problem just by understanding the advantage and the disadvantage of creating multiple blogs at a time. Because there are many queries are playing in pure mind that which hosting site will be better for my blog ? may i need to use multiple accounts or it will be beneficial to use only one account for many blogs.so guys. This is a little bit of my effort to give you the solution of this.

Advantages of Running Multiple Blogs:-

1. Greater Income Potential - The primary reason behind most decisions to run multiple blogs is the increase in income potential. While you can always work to increase the amount of money that you make from any one blog, you can ultimately create even more by successfully launching and maintaining another blog.

2. More Stable Income - If all of your blogging income is tied to one particular blog, you are always going to have a certain degree of risk. If something happens to that blog your income could quickly disappear. Spreading your income out over a few different blogs will reduce the risk of any one blog not producing. If that happens you’ll still have income from another blog, or possibly several other blogs.

3. Transfer of Readers - If you run multiple blogs that cover related topics there is a good chance that some of your readers would be interested in reading your other blogs as well. This works especially well if you have at least one established blog with a significant audience. Launching a new blog on a related topic may produce results much faster because you can send some of those existing readers to the new blog.

4. Increased Exposure - Part of successful blogging is building your profile and gaining exposure. Running multiple blogs gives you the opportunity for more exposure and ability to become recognized as a leader in your field.

5. Leverage What You’ve Already Learned - Blogging is a constant learning experience. Writing new content and marketing your blog will be much easier as time goes on because of the things that you learn along the way. When you start a new blog you’ll be starting with the knowledge and experience that you’ve already gained from your other projects. What you learn can be applied multiple times rather than just once.

6. Potentially Larger Audience - Almost every blog wants to be able to reach a larger audience. Of course this is possible by growing an existing blog, but running multiple blogs makes it even more possible. The total audience that you reach through all of your blogs may be larger than anything you could accomplish with just one blog.

7. Increased Networking Opportunities - One of the most important things you can do to improve your blog is to network with other blogger. Having multiple blogs may help to bring up new networking opportunities.

8. Improve Your Value to Your Network - One of the vital parts of networking is being able to help others. If you have multiple blogs you’ll have a chance to increase your value to those in your network. For example, instead of having the ability to link to a friend from one blog, you’ll have the opportunity to do so from 2 or more blogs, which could create more exposure for your friends.

9. Cover Multiple Topics - Maybe there is a topic that you would love to write about but it just doesn’t fit with your blog. If this is the case, starting another blog could give you the opportunity to cover other topics.

Many blogger that run multiple blogs have some type of package offer to advertisers to advertise on all of their blogs at a discounted rate. This can be a good deal for advertisers and it can make your life easier by taking less time to fill your ad spots.

An easy way for you, a new business owner, to quickly gain search engine position is to go out to forums and post a link back to your main web site. It may sound like a daunting task, but I assure you it is as easy as 1-2-3. Listed below are 6 easy steps to creating FREE link backs to your web site.

1. Do a Google search on the subject that is relevant to your web site e.g. (web development)
2. Click on one of the results. Once in the web site look for a forum link. If you don t find one just go to the next search result.
3. When you find a forum link, click it and look for the register link.
4. Once registered you will receive activation either by e-mail or instantly.
5. Upon activation access the forum and look for a preferences link. Be sure to set the signature with a link back to your main site. (note: some forums do not allow links or html to be used, I avoid these)
6. Now just search for topics you want to comment on or start new topics.

The idea here is to find postings that you can comment on. Once you leave your comment it will also leave behind your signature with a link to your web site. By spending an hour a week on forums, you can greatly increase your search engine ranking.
